Statement:
Those paintings explore personal narratives of transformation, while dealing with issues, such as empty nest and cultural changes. The paintings are about identity uncertainty, as well as growth.
I combine patterns and shapes with the figure. The backgrounds of the paintings are patterns of symbolic components, which are prints, done on paper, pasted on canvases. The figurative elements are painted. They emerge and blend with the backgrounds, which represent the idea that the answers to the questions of who we are and where we are going lay in familiar places that we left behind when we moved on.
